Village of Ringwood
Boasting a lovely rural setting in the heart of horse country
as well as the unparalleled recreation offered by its McHenry
County setting, the Village of Ringwood, Illinois, was founded
in 1994. It's a serene and scenic wonderland, a place of wilderness
and wildlife and shimmering lakes, and yet, Ringwood is as
convenient as it is beautiful. Fine schools, shopping, dining
and transportation serve the Village.
When it comes to the great outdoors, it just doesn't get
any greater than Glacial Park, spanning some 2,806 spectacular
acres in Ringwood. Considered the "crown jewel"
of the McHenry County Conservation District, Glacial Park-along
with its Lost Valley Marsh area-is home to a host of native,
rare and endangered species of plants and animals. But beyond
its nature trails, the park also offers residents the perfect
venue for picnicking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing,
fishing, camping and cross-country skiing. Best of all, Glacial
Park represents only a fraction of the 20,000 acres that McHenry
County has devoted to conservation and recreation, including
the Prairie Path bike trail, Volo Bog and Moraine Hills State
Parks, and the resort-like Chain O' Lakes State Park, with
its famed trail system and almost 6,500 aces of lake waters.
Ringwood residents can enjoy a year-round vacation without
ever leaving home.
Thanks to its McHenry County location, Ringwood also features
a wide array of other pleasures. The Village of Johnsburg,
only five minutes away, has fabulous playgrounds and parks,
facilities for team sports that include baseball, basketball,
softball and soccer, and a dazzling riverfront on the Fox
that offers restaurants and shops. Ringwood children will
attend Johnsburg's outstanding District 12 schools.
Surrounded by McHenry County's many popular small towns,
places like Woodstock, McHenry, Algonquin and Crystal Lake,
Ringwood homeowners can quickly travel from quaint downtown
districts with their unique boutiques, antique shops and restaurants
to the world-class retailers, fine dining and multiplex movie
houses found at major malls like Algonquin Commons and Prime
Outlets-Huntley. In the spring of 2007, the new Shops at Fox
River will open on Route 31 in the town of McHenry, only about
ten minutes from Ringwood. Talk about convenient. McHenry
also has a Metra station, making even the commute into Chicago
quick and easy. Imagine
all this, and an incredible home,
when you live at Glacial Trails.
